Presteigne Festival 2021

During August 2021, Perpetuo were thrilled to be in residence at Presteigne Festival. We travelled to Presteigne as an oboe plus string trio formation and there we premiered a number of new works including the new oboe quartet by Hilary Tann called Still in the Water and Singingbirds. String Trios by David Matthews, Cecilia McDowall and Hugh Wood were also performed as well as Malcolm Arnold’s Oboe Quartet.

In addition to this Perpetuo founder, James Turnbull, performed a recital for oboe, bassoon and piano with Timothy End and Catriona McDermid. Perpetuo violinist, Fenella Humphreys gave a solo recital of virtuoso caprices and Perpetuo Cellist, Cara Berridge, also gave a solo recital on the final day of the festival.

Perpetuo were also thrilled to continue their relationship with Adrian Sutton who composed a new trio, ‘Trio Dances’, as a commission by Presteigne Festival. More of Adrian Sutton’s music can be heard on our forthcoming disc with Champs Hill Records (see here).

For a limited time, you can hear some of Perpetuo’s performances as part of the Presteigne Digital Festival here: (https://presteignefestival.com/presteigne-digital-2021/)
