One of the most interesting things about building a season of concerts is the different approaches you can take to creating an interesting and diverse programme.
As ever, the audience has a role in how you go about choosing the repertoire you want to play. One of the joys of programming however, is that we can start an event by choosing repertoire we’ve always enjoyed performing and wish we could perform even more.
It is an exciting experience whenever you find new repertoire you had previously not known about. Something we find really interesting is working with composers to create new repertoire. Some audiences can be scared of contemporary work but in reality it can be one of the most engaging and exciting experiences when you hear something brand new.
In the coming two to three months we will be blogging more about our collaborations with composers on new repertoire and hope to keep you all posted!
